There is no single purchase that is best for every save. A reliable early order is to fix failed expeditions first, remove a repeated selling bottleneck second, and buy optional variety only after the dungeon-to-shop loop is stable.
Quick answer
Prioritize survivability when you regularly return with too little loot. Prioritize shop capacity when good stock repeatedly waits unsold. Prioritize build variety when both sides of the loop already work and a specific recipe or perk path supports your next goal.
Priority 1: bring the loot home
Gold spent on selling capacity cannot help if failed runs prevent valuable relics from reaching the shop. Improve the expedition side first when healing, health, or equipment is the repeated limit. The Greed & Glory update specifically expanded Eris to a fourth upgrade level with better potions and health improvements.
Choose this priority when:
- You use most healing before the intended return point.
- One extra room regularly turns a profitable run into a loss.
- Your current weapon or armor cannot support the route you are attempting.
Priority 2: remove the shop bottleneck
Upgrade the shop when inventory accumulates faster than it can be displayed and sold. Official updates identify several capacity milestones:
- Blob-Life adds Shop Level 4 and more shop space.
- K33P3R Level 4 expands shop possibilities and unlocks Haggle Customers.
- Version 1.0 announces Shop Level 5, an additional Bloblet slot, and another cosmetic placement slot.
Do not buy capacity only because a tier list ranks it highly. Buy it when your actual stock, display space, or customer flow is holding back the next expedition.
Priority 3: buy a specific new option
The official updates show that equipment can be locked behind quests and recipes. Greed & Glory names Blo-Blitz and Nimbus Regalia as examples: their crafting recipes become available through progression-linked quests. Purchase or craft a new option when its documented mechanic solves a problem you already have, not merely because it is newly unlocked.
A practical spending check
Before confirming an upgrade, answer four questions:
- Which repeated failure does this purchase remove?
- Does it improve the expedition, the sale, or only appearance?
- What next objective will use the improvement immediately?
- Will buying it prevent a more important potion, recipe, or shop expansion?
If the first and third answers are unclear, keep the gold until the bottleneck becomes obvious.
What is intentionally not listed
The official update posts do not publish a complete, current table of every upgrade name, cost, prerequisite, and numerical effect. This guide therefore gives a usable priority order and cites confirmed milestones without inventing a complete catalog.
