The best early shop upgrade depends on what is limiting your current loop. Official material confirms shop progression and later update additions, but this repository does not yet hold a complete, current-build capture of every upgrade, cost, prerequisite, and effect.

Choose from an observed bottleneck: selling capacity, information, survivability, or expedition throughput. Do not buy from a static tier list that cannot identify its game version.
Diagnose before spending
Review several cycles rather than one unusually good or bad run:
- If stock repeatedly waits for space or attention, inspect shop-capacity options.
- If expeditions end before you bring useful inventory home, shop throughput may not be the first constraint.
- If you cannot price consistently, improve the research process before assuming another upgrade fixes it.
- If the loop is stable, select an upgrade that advances a specific next objective.
Compare complete costs
An upgrade is more than its gold number. Record prerequisites, opportunity cost, whether its description changed after an update, and which part of the loop it affects. A cheaper purchase can be worse if it delays the tool that addresses the actual bottleneck.
Why there is no ranked list yet
A ranked list would require the verified current upgrade catalog and repeatable play testing. The Blob-Life Balance update added shop-related content, demonstrating why an undated Early Access ranking can become misleading. Until the research exists, this page remains published for workflow guidance but marked needs review and excluded from search indexing.
